Fender Serial Number China
Hello everyone,Before I start, I want to say that this is NOT a post asking what the year of production my bass is.Per Fender's web page, the Japan Fender serials that begin with E+6 digits equals a production date between 1984-1987.Here is my question, I've seen a lot of people dating their Japan guitars and basses using the modern American Fender Serials. For example, their Fender Japan guitar or bass with an E +6 digit, say E9-, that the year of production is 1989. Is this correct and Fender's page wrong, or are those individuals who are dating their guitars this way wrong? Click to expand.At times, dating Japanese Fenders can sometimes be inviting maximum frustration.First off, there's the Made/Crafted-In-Japan split, when F.J. Switched from one factory to another. Then, in 2007-2008, there was a shift back to 'MIJ' despite some 'CIJ' instruments still hitting the market. However, in my case, the rarity of the instrument actually helped me spot the year it was produced. It might be more difficult for a rank-and-file Japanese Fender.Just out of curiosity, what type, model and designation (Made/Crafted, serial number's starting letter, etc) is it?
